New web site created to give Latvians information about digital television

Today SES SIRIUS announced that a new web site, www.satellite.lv has been created to inform Latvians about digital television and the choices available to them as the switchover from analogue to digital approaches.
According to EU recommendations, all of Europe will have switched from analogue to digital television by the year 2012. This process will also take place in Latvia. The remaining questions are - how fast will this happen and what will be the government's final decision regarding the distribution form for digital broadcasts. In this situation, it is very important that television viewers in Latvia understand what digital television is, and what they have to do to get it.
"We want to inform people of the different alternatives available when it comes to digital TV, says Anna-Karin Modigh, Vice President, Marketing and Communications of SES SIRIUS AB. When you switch from analogue terrestrial broadcasting it is easy to assume that digital terrestrial is the only option. But there are other solutions available offering such alternatives as more television channels and the new television standard HDTV".
The web site www.satellite.lv provides facts about satellite history, satellite applications and reliability. It also includes a section with questions and answers about reception of satellite television.
