High Definition Television. A high-resolution television system which gives higher picture quality. Requires more bandwidth than conventional television transmissions. Needs HD Ready display screens and a HD set-top-box.

The band used for satellite transmission from 11.70 GHz to 12.75 GHz. The ASTRA Satellites system uses this band to transmit digital services only.

In the context of a star-based network, e.g. comprised of a mixture of SIT's and TVROs, a Hub is a place where data are received (collected). Value added processing and rebroadcasting (via Ku-bad) may also take place at the hub.
